ok ian update on my situation. Fish still have this disease. i have pretty much decided it is carp pox. I have tried every remedy i have and none have made any improvement. I am now trying a temperature rise. 1 deg C every 4 days or so. It has been known to be the only cure for this condition so i am going to give it a try and see if the fish can fight it off themselves... Will keep you updated...

This koi is in my koi pond. He was the worst affected. Before he was in the pond he was in my tank in the house and was a healthy normal fish. he went into the pond last April and around October i noticed he had this funny business on him so i took him out. I had him in this silly little tank for about two months as i believed it to be carp pox from reading different books. I tried using whitespot (King Brittish) which has malachite green in it but it did not help. I also tried methalane blue which had no effect. I tried fungus remover, salt baths and anti slime. None of these seemed to make a difference. I have several Kopi with this condition and drained the pond and set up a makeshif set up at the bottom of the garden to isolate the ones showing signs. I planned to cure them before reintroduction to the real pond before the onset of winter. Thios never happened so i had no choice but to put them back in the real pond which is deep enough to hold them over the winter. The mad thing is i have not lost any fish at all but they look awful. This fish actually improved a lot from what he looks like now but he still has it. I had to put him back in the pond as he was looking really skinny and i did not have the tanks or filters etc. to maintain a large fish like this. i feared he would only end up dieing so he had to take his chances going back into the pond during the winter.

These growths look a bit like grey slimy lumps. I have taken a fish out and tried to physically remove them using a piece of toilet role and then treat with malachite green but found them not to be slimey at all but more soilid. Has anyone any more ideas? I will try supply more pictures of better quality.

How long have you had it?Is it on its own inthe tank?was it quarantined before you got it,where did it come from?what temperature is it at?

The pictures are unclear to see properly. Can you describe these growths better, or get some better photo's. There are a lot of knowledgeable koi keepers who visit this site.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone out there help me? I live in Ireland. Co. Meath and my fish have some sort of outbreak. I have been trying desperately for about a month and a half to shift it with various treatments but can't. I am not sure what it is as so many diseases of this type look alike. I have refered to books but made no progress. strangelyi have had no fatalities yet but winter is closing and I have all affected fish seperated into a makeshift pond. I am only a novice at this stuff so help would be greatly apreciated. I have had these fish 3 years. Strangely none of my goldfish seem to have the disease which is very strange. Is there anyone out there that could come and take a look at my fish and give their opinion? Someone who lives near by perhaps?

OK from looking through books i think i have narrowed this disease down to being 'cotton wool' disease. A nasty little bugger caused by a bacteria or Virus. The book says to treat with Phenoyethenol but i have never heard of this stuff before. Is there a treatment you can buy that contains this chemical? I need to get these fish sorted before the winter sets in.

white worm! You know? The small white worms you grow in a tub on damp bread. Use them for feeding tropical fish? also good for feeding goldfish etc.?

Hi there, this may be a tad late but are those Orfe still around? If so how big are they? Are they too big for mailing to Ireland? I know that might sound nuts but I have a great interest in trying to get more Orfe. They are really hard to come by over here and i only have two smallish ones in my 2500 gallon pond.

Thanks for that but no. It definately is not whitespot. Wat to big for those. These things are BIG. Looks much more like some kind of fungus but looks strange to me since it is not so much hairy looking as big roundy blobs...
