Our 16,000 + gallon koi pond, structured with reinforced gunite, and finished with black quartz ranges in depth from 4.5 feet to 8 feet . The pond features a dramatic 6 foot waterfall, a 20 foot wide, 6 foot tall “water wall” that is set with Pennsylvania field stone. There is a large pedestal rock, which seemingly floats in front of the waterfall. It has water bubbling up through it that keeps its plants nourished and giving the impression of an island in the pond, and serves to break up the waves for a better view of the koi. The water wall is laced with chocolate mint which thrives and climb on the continuously wet irregular shaped rocks. There is also a “spa” with its own waterfall and a spillway into the main pond. The wall of the spa under its spillway features glass block tiles which allow the underwater light in the spa to shine through at night.
The pond area is accented with bamboo fencing, triangle palms, a cedar swing, Japanese pagodas and lanterns, driftwood, palms, bromeliads, ferns and various tropicals. There are several large flat stones at the edge of the pond where we can stand or sit when hand feeding or just visiting with our friendly koi.
